Aznar requests to the G8 bottoms to help indebted
countries The Spanish president agreed with Canadian prime
minister, Jean Chrétien, in proposing an express support to the
Brazilian economy and will request attention to the Argentine economic
crisis CALGARY, Canada '. - The president of the
Spanish government, Jose Maria Aznar, today expressed the disposition
of the UE to collaborate with the plan of Russian nuclear dismantling
and agreed with Canadian prime minister, Jean Chrétien, in demanding
additional bottoms to help the strongly become indebted countries. That coincidence was shown in the interview that Chrétien
maintained with Aznar and the president of the European Commission,
Romano Prodi, before the beginning of the summit of the G8 in
Kananaskis (Canada '), during which the head of the Spanish Executive
and president of the European Council will propose an express support
to the Brazilian economy and will request attention to the economic
crisis of Argentina. Canadian prime minister and the president of the Spanish
Government dedicated a special attention to the impulse of the Hipic
initiative, that less tries the lightening of the debt of the
developed countries. On the matter, they agreed in that will make lack between
500 and 800 million dollars (505-808 million euros) additional
as a result of the reduction of the prices of the raw materials. With respect to the plan for the control of the material
coming from the Russian nuclear dismantling, Aznar showed the
disposition of the UE to collaborate with this program, although it
needed that the Union still does not have the necessary bottoms. Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy jeopardized already,
like individual Canada, contributions for this initiative of financial
aid to Russia, by which this country would receive 10,000 million
dollars (10,101 million euros) of the U.S.A. and other 10,000
million of the rest of nations of the G7 during a period of 10 years. Aznar informed in addition to Chrétien that, in the
debate that the leaders of the G8 will dedicate to the economic growth
and the sustainable development, will send a message of confidence in
the future of the Argentine economy and will emphasize the necessity
to endorse to this country the developing of its reforms. The president in exercise of the European Council also
will defend that the final official notice of the summit includes a
reference to the confidence that stops the G8 deserves the economy of
Brazil, as much in its present moment as in the future. In the analysis of the works of the World-wide
Organization of Comercio (OMC), both heads of Government are in favor
of at the moment not reviewing the strategy designed in the round of
Doha. The situation in the middle East As far as the crisis of the Middle East, Chrétien
noticed that the proposal of the president of the U.S.A., George W.
Bush, does not have to center the debates of a summoned summit to
discuss other questions. It defended in any case a solution to the conflict based
on the call of legislative elections in Palestine, the fight against
the corruption in these territories and the Israeli retirement of the
occupied zones. Aznar and Chrétien also left for the works of the summit
the debate on antiterrorist cooperation, one of the priorities of the
meeting of the G8 and of the relations of the Fifteen with the
Canadian Government, as it were of relief in the UE-Canada summit that
was the past celebrated May in the Spanish city of Toledo. Between the commitments assumed in that appointment they
appear the disposition to study the company/signature in judicial and
police agreements of collaboration UE-Canada, to fight jointly against
the financing of the terrorism and as opposed to to reinforce the
cooperation illegal immigration. In this sense, the UE and Canada maintain their bet to in
front of examine the scope of application in a possible agreement
between this country and Eurojust the terrorism and the organized
delinquency, and to study the possibility of celebrating agreements of
cooperation in the scope of the mutual judicial attendance and the
extradition. Both parts project to also reinforce the exchange of
information between their respective bodies of security and between
their respective units of financial information, with the purpose of
improving the capacity of preventive performance against the terrorism
and the organized delinquency. The direction of these initiatives agrees with the
proposals that the main reunited world-wide leaders in Kananaskis must
upon the table to apply of effective way the resolution 1373 of the
Security Council of the UN on the suppression of the financing and
support to the terrorist groups. In addition to its interview with Chrétien, Aznar last
night maintained conversations with British prime minister, Tony
Blair, with the German chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder and with the
president of the European Commission, Romano Prodi. In the round table around that the assistants to the
Summit feel, the president of the Spanish Government is flanked by the
president of the European Commission and by Japanese prime minister,
Junichiru Koizumi. Source: EFE
