Aznar requests to the G8 bottoms to help indebted countries

The Spanish president agreed with Canadian prime minister, Jean Chrétien, in proposing an express support to the Brazilian economy and will request attention to the Argentine economic crisis

CALGARY, Canada '. - The president of the Spanish government, Jose Maria Aznar, today expressed the disposition of the UE to collaborate with the plan of Russian nuclear dismantling and agreed with Canadian prime minister, Jean Chrétien, in demanding additional bottoms to help the strongly become indebted countries.

That coincidence was shown in the interview that Chrétien maintained with Aznar and the president of the European Commission, Romano Prodi, before the beginning of the summit of the G8 in Kananaskis (Canada '), during which the head of the Spanish Executive and president of the European Council will propose an express support to the Brazilian economy and will request attention to the economic crisis of Argentina.

Canadian prime minister and the president of the Spanish Government dedicated a special attention to the impulse of the Hipic initiative, that less tries the lightening of the debt of the developed countries.

On the matter, they agreed in that will make lack between 500 and 800 million dollars (505-808 million euros) additional as a result of the reduction of the prices of the raw materials.

With respect to the plan for the control of the material coming from the Russian nuclear dismantling, Aznar showed the disposition of the UE to collaborate with this program, although it needed that the Union still does not have the necessary bottoms.

Germany, the United Kingdom and Italy jeopardized already, like individual Canada, contributions for this initiative of financial aid to Russia, by which this country would receive 10,000 million dollars (10,101 million euros) of the U.S.A. and other 10,000 million of the rest of nations of the G7 during a period of 10 years.

Aznar informed in addition to Chrétien that, in the debate that the leaders of the G8 will dedicate to the economic growth and the sustainable development, will send a message of confidence in the future of the Argentine economy and will emphasize the necessity to endorse to this country the developing of its reforms.

The president in exercise of the European Council also will defend that the final official notice of the summit includes a reference to the confidence that stops the G8 deserves the economy of Brazil, as much in its present moment as in the future.

In the analysis of the works of the World-wide Organization of Comercio (OMC), both heads of Government are in favor of at the moment not reviewing the strategy designed in the round of Doha.

The situation in the middle East

As far as the crisis of the Middle East, Chrétien noticed that the proposal of the president of the U.S.A., George W. Bush, does not have to center the debates of a summoned summit to discuss other questions.

It defended in any case a solution to the conflict based on the call of legislative elections in Palestine, the fight against the corruption in these territories and the Israeli retirement of the occupied zones.

Aznar and Chrétien also left for the works of the summit the debate on antiterrorist cooperation, one of the priorities of the meeting of the G8 and of the relations of the Fifteen with the Canadian Government, as it were of relief in the UE-Canada summit that was the past celebrated May in the Spanish city of Toledo.

The direction of these initiatives agrees with the proposals that the main reunited world-wide leaders in Kananaskis must upon the table to apply of effective way the resolution 1373 of the Security Council of the UN on the suppression of the financing and support to the terrorist groups.

In addition to its interview with Chrétien, Aznar last night maintained conversations with British prime minister, Tony Blair, with the German chancellor, Gerhard Schroeder and with the president of the European Commission, Romano Prodi.
