Reclamation of 80 Argentine and Spanish directors

They request investments in the education

THE SILVER. - In search of a greater protagonism and commitment with the social reality and problems, about 80 reunited Spanish and Argentine directors in this city asked the governments "who take to the education like the great social priority maintaining budgetary investments adapted".

When concluding the First Encounter Hispanic-Argentinean of Directors, the holders of 80 universities pleaded, in addition, by a task of "cultural and educative integration, to assure political and economic integration between our countries".

Also they indicated the way of the institutions of superior education, that must be, said, "able to manage his own transformation, recognizing his integrity, its missions and functions and the changing necessities of the society".

In addition, they showed "the deep rejection that provokes the policies of the World-wide Organization of Comercio (OMC) destined to favor the commercialization of the superior education with the consequences of abandonment on the part of the State".

Thus he indicates the mentioned declaration spread during the act of closing of the encounter made last night in the Library of platense the Nacional University, that they attended the minister of Education, Daniel Filmus; the secretary of University Policies, Juan Carlos Pugliese; the presidents of the Council Interuniversitario Nacional, Daniel Malcolm, and of the Council of Directors of Deprived Universities, Avelino Porto, and the holder of the University of the Silver, Alberto Dibbern.

Pending challenges

Filmus agreed with the declaration and considered that "we must face all the challenges of century XXI, but we must still fulfill with the demands of century XIX and limited resources". And it concluded that "the destiny of the University is the destiny of the country".

The directors affirmed that "the educative processes are essential to face the challenges of the modern world and to form citizens able to construct one more a righter society and opened cradle in solidarity, the respect of the human rights and the shared use of the knowledge and the information".

The previous thing will guarantee "the social development, the production and the innovation, the economic growth, the fortification of the cultural identity, the maintenance of the social cohesion, the fight against the poverty and the promotion of the culture of La Paz", indicated in the text.

The encounter they attended 16 Iberian representatives, among them Ignacio Berdugo Go'mez of the Tower, president of the Conference of Directors of the Spanish Universities; Happiness Rodriguez Sanchez, executive secretary of the University Spanish Committee of International Relations, and Juan Cayón Rock, vicedirector of the European University of Madrid. Between the Argentineans they were Sergio Maluendre, director of Pampas; Jorge González, of Cordova, and Ernesto Villanueva, president of the National Commission of Evaluation and University Acreditacio'n (Coneau).
