- I know Susan from 1978, when it tested for the paper that soon Meryl would interpret Streep in "Kramer v. Kramer", and we have had a special chemistry since then. We have always had very good relation. Once in a while you know somebody with who you feel a connection and with that you could have gotten to be very united. I believe that Susan and I could have been together like pair many years, although she is a woman very hard against whom she had not been able to gain no fight. Surely at this point already we would have divorced [ laughs ]. Working in this film we realized which we have many things in common, for example that Susan is very good mother and I also [ laughs ]. We spoke without stopping of our children, our families became single a great family.

- How it reacts to a real tragedy, like the death of a boy or, on greater scale, the international terrorism or the war?

- I believe that the death of a son is the greater loss and hope not to survive no of my children. But there are lost my parents and it could not in the beginning express the pain. But a pair of years later went by the street thinking about another thing and was as if suddenly it starred to me against a brick wall. I lay down to cry. With the tragedy of the 11 of September I have returned to live the same, I have not been able to assimilate it. I believe that that tragedy affected levels to us that have something to see with the death of a son and which they are equal of powerful. It is not the first time that happens something thus, but this one has become the symbolic representation of all the lives that are lost to newspaper in the wars.

- You it has been demonstrated against the war in Iraq. What thinks of the morality of the wars?

- For me, like American, the most painful aspect of the war in Iraq is that it had hidden reasons. I believe that the government took advantage of and manipulated the pain feeling that was generated in the country. And that is censureable. I am convinced that it is possible to be patriotic and to be against a government. This war was by just like almost all: hegemony, money, power and petroleum. The war is money, because usually it is based on obtaining economic advantages. It is "I want that".

- How it maintains lives the passion by his work?

- I never understand the people who say that or she has seen it or done everything. As I become greater I feel that every time there is less time, to live, but not only to be understood to one same one. The work of a person, is as it is, is an autobiography, everything what beams are like watching your reflection in a mirror. Make shoes, you are actor or photographer, every day you change. Every day you are a little readier, more sincere with same you, or go to worse, and the work is one of the places in which those changes are reflected.

- I am interested in my work, but I do not believe that more duro works than the others. I was three years preparing me for that film. My mother became ill and died in 1981, while we worked in the script, and I could spend long time with her. Also I saw many films of Joan Crawfod, Greta Garbo and Marlene Dietrich and began to see the women of another form. We knew that we did not want to be exaggerated.
